FULL/PART TIME POSITION – SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST

We are in the process of reinforcing the team in our Cape Town office, and a position has become available for an enthusiastic Senior Architectural Technologist with at least 5 years’ experience. The person will be expected to lead correspondence, attend site meetings and work relatively independently, with occasional oversight from other staff members.

The projects assigned to the successful applicant are predominantly in work stages that require design development and technical documentation. It is anticipated that the workload for the aforementioned projects will equate to a “full” workload, but (depending on the applicants proficiency) we will consider applicants who would prefer to spend their “free/ left over” time working on other projects of their own, with the proviso that IKG projects make up the majority of their time.

To that end, applicants with more experience and who can demonstrate advanced technical proficiency are welcome to apply for the position in its “freelance” format, while less experienced applicants may have to consider the full-time option.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Design and develop project documentation
  • Coordinating and leading all disciplines during design and construction development
  • Dealing with clients face to face as part of the project management team
  • Managing the construction phase; site meetings, coordinate services, control budget and project schedules
  • Working on multiple projects at the same time

Required Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Must be Revit Proficiency
  • Proficiency is MS Office
  • Good design, technical and presentation skills
  • Strong skills in contract administration (Knowledge of the JBCC and NEC contracts – advantageous)
  • Sound knowledge of Local Planning and Municipal requirements and National Building Regulations
  • Experience in maintenance and refurbishment projects – advantageous
  • Able to work independently on multiple projects
  • Diligent, with initiative and high quality of work
